WELCOME TO THE ACADEMY

Boxing:

Boxing is one of the most well-known sports in the world.

Some of the most famous athletes in the world were boxers, including the legendary Muhammad Ali—a name you’ll see on virtually every list of recognizable athletes. And even those who don’t watch boxing have at least seen it in pop culture through the countless movies that chronicle the lives of real and fictional fighters.

With that in mind, boxing-style training has become increasingly popular. Who wouldn’t want to feel like Rocky when he reaches the top of that staircase? But working out like a boxer isn’t just punching with reckless abandon—at least not if you want to do it right and get a good workout.

Boxing involves power, strategy, spot-on technique, and good conditioning to help fighters get through round after round against their opponents. In pro boxing, a fight can last up to 12 three-minute rounds with one-minute breaks in between. That’s a long time to fight.

If you’re interested in training like a fighter, contact us at The Academy to find more information about upcoming courses or 1-1 training.

Jiu Jitsu:

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport based on ground fighting (ne-waza) and submission holds. It focuses on taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one’s opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using several techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was developed around 1920 by Brazilian brothers Carlos, Oswaldo, Gastão Jr., George, and Hélio Gracie after Carlos was taught traditional Kodokan judo by a traveling Japanese judoka, Mitsuyo Maeda. 1917 BJJ eventually came to be its own defined combat sport through the innovations, practices, and adaptation of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and judo, becoming an essential martial art for MMA governing bodies such as the IBJJF work worldwide, and set the rules and standards to be held in BJJ competitions.

BJJ revolves around the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themself against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using leverage and weight distribution, taking the fight to the ground, and using several holds and submissions to defeat them.

BJJ training can be used for sports grappling and self-defense situations. Sparring, commonly called “rolling” within the BJJ community, and live drilling play a major role in training and the practitioner’s development. BJJ can also be used to promote physical fitness and build character.

Krav Maga:

Krav Maga is a military self-defense and fighting system developed for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israeli security forces derived from a combination of techniques sourced from Boxing, Wrestling, Judo, Aikido, and Karate. Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extreme efficiency.

Krav Maga is the original MMA but has no rules. We teach you the fundamentals & essentials of how to kick, punch, knee, elbow, and grapple.

MMA:

Choosing a form of martial art that aligns with your goals and personal needs can be overwhelming.

Martial Arts is designed to push your limits and is typically great for developing physical stamina. MMA combines the three core areas that make up all of Mixed Martial Arts fighting.

One form involves stand-up fighting, where you fight with your hands, feet, elbows, and knees, such as boxing and Muay Thai.

The second involves clinch techniques, where opponents grapple with one another to get leverage, such as in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu.

The last and final is on the ground, commonly witnessed in wrestling. As a beginner, Jiu-Jitsu wrestling could be your priority to learn as you gain more strength and form.
